A significant 78% of workers in Australia support changes to legislation for a right to disconnect from work.

These countries already have a right to disconnect:

Since 2016, French companies with over 50 employees are required to set guidelines specifying when staff should not send or respond to emails, helping to combat workplace stress and burnout.

Portugal ⚽
As of 2021, Portuguese employers can face penalties for contacting their employees outside of work hours, acknowledging the negative impact of extended work hours on health and well-being.

Canada 🍁
Ontario took a step forward in 2022 by introducing laws that affirm the right to disconnect, aiming to reduce burnout and its associated long-term health risks.

The Australian Services Union is urging the Federal Government to follow these examples and legislate the right to disconnect.
